Lawton Police Officers Assn., I.U.P.A. Local #24 members participated in Project Safe Stop, a program in which officers and autistic citizens can practice how traffic stops are conducted. Autistic citizens can also fill out a card that tells officers about their autism that they can hand to officers if they are ever pulled over in real life.

Autism Foundation of Oklahoma and Texas Roadhouse partnered with the Lawton Police Department for Project Safe Stop. Below is a video from Autism Foundation of Oklahoma about Project Safe Stop.

Lawton Police Department posted on social media about the event, “A huge thank you to Autism Foundation of Oklahoma and Texas Roadhouse for partnering with the Lawton Police Department for Project Safe Stop. Our officers had a great time. We hope that the experience was an educational one for all in attendance.”
