Hero Spotlight: I.U.P.A. Regional Vice President Ron Pierone

I.U.P.A. Regional Vice President Ron Pierone was awarded with a certificate signed by I.U.P.A. President Sam A. Cabral and I.U.P.A. Secretary-Treasurer Michael V. Crivello as well as a plaque from the International that stated, “Under your leadership, N.Y. State Police Investigators Association significantly enhanced the benefits available to officers. You have influenced legislation and litigation that aimed to benefit law enforcement officers. Your service, both as an officer and as a union leader, are commendable. Best of luck to you in your much-deserved retirement.”

President Cabral also penned a letter to Regional Vice President Pierone that stated, “Congratulations on your recent retirement from the N.Y. State Police Investigators Assn., #4, where you served as Troop G/H Delegate for one year, Vice President for two years, and President for four years. You have faithfully served on the I.U.P.A. Board as Regional Vice President of Region 11 for four years.”

The letter continued, “Throughout your long and dedicated career, you served as a Road Trooper, a Field Training Officer, served on four different deployments with various security details at Ground Zero of the terrorist attack at the World Trade Center, served in the Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI), and in the Troop G Major Crimes Unit and attached to the United States Marshals Service (USMS) Violent Felony Warrant Squad. During your career, you were responsible for executing high risk violent felony warrants throughout the world with the USMS and while working child-related crimes, fatal automobile crashes, narcotic investigations, and other felony cases.”

President Cabral continued, “Along with your team, you were recently recognized by USMS headquarters in Washington, D.C. for the successful capture of a USMS Top 15 Mexican citizen wanted for the homicide of a baby.  The case was handled by your Major Crimes Unit and handed over to you after he fled the county.  It was nearly a five- year investigation that ultimately led to his capture and successful prosecution.”

President Cabral closed the letter, “On November 21, 2024, you retired from New York State Police service after a long and meaningful career that is a shining example of a life dedicated to public service, the safety of our communities and our nation, and to union work and the improvement of work conditions, benefits, equipment, and more for your fellow law enforcement professionals. Your hard work and dedication will not be forgotten – forever appreciated.”
