Local Connecticut Police and Fire Union, #74 shared on social media about the tragic deaths of Sergeant Dustin Demonte and Officer Alex Hamzy, “The Bristol Connecticut Police Department regret to announce that on Wednesday October 12, 2022 Sergeant Dustin Demonte #221 and Officer Alex Hamzy #245 assigned to the Patrol Division were on duty when they were shot and killed responding to a domestic disturbance call in the city of Bristol. Sergeant Demonte was a 10 year veteran of the Bristol Police Department. Officer Hamzy was an 8 year veteran of the Bristol Police Department.”
The New York Yankees displayed their photos to remember and respect them during a moment of silence. Connecticut Police and Fire Union posted about that also on social media, “The New York Yankees Organization always remembers and respects our fallen law enforcement officers as they did today with a moment of silence for the Bristol Police Officers who tragically lost their lives yesterday.”
