Yonkers Police Department shared on social media about the tribute to Detective Sergeant Frank Gualdino, “A tribute to Detective Sergeant Frank Gualdino: this restored 1992 Chevrolet Caprice will be displayed at ceremonial events and parades in his honor; a tangible memorial recalling Frank’s early years of service in New York City and The City of Yonkers. Thank you to the members of the #YonkersPD Traffic Unit and P.O. Richie Rubin Jr. for putting this together. RIP Furby.”
Officer Down Memorial Page has an account of the circumstances surrounding his death, “Detective Sergeant Frank Gualdino was killed in a vehicle crash on Tuckahoe Road at 3:30 pm. He was driving westbound when an oncoming vehicle lost control and collided with his unmarked vehicle and a transit bus.”
The account continues, “Detective Gualdino was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The bus driver and passengers were treated for minor injuries. The 16-year-old unlicensed driver who caused the crash was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Detective Gualdino had served with the Yonkers Police Department for 24 years and was due to retire in August 2023. He is survived by his wife, daughter, and son. Detective Sergeant Gualdino was posthumously promoted.”
