Since 9/11, national and homeland security threats have grown increasingly complex as have the responses to counter them successfully. American University’s online Master of Science in Counter-Terrorism and Homeland Security is designed to give law enforcement and intelligence professionals specialized preparation in identifying and analyzing these threats and focused expertise in countering terrorism as a social and networked phenomenon. This two-year, 36-credit program is taught by leading experts and covers counter-terrorism through the lenses of policy, intelligence, social science and law.

Taught by recognized experts in counter-terrorism and homeland security, the MS in Counter-Terrorism and Homeland Security program builds focused knowledge in the field through expertise in the causes of political violence, intelligence analysis and methods, national security, domestic and international law and policy, cybersecurity, research methods, and real-world residency and internship work.
