By July 6, 2022 No Comments

I.U.P.A. Local Memphis Police Association, #318 posted on Facebook about the well-deserved recognition of Officer VanArsdale and K9 Anthony, whose lifesaving efforts were recognized by the Tennessee House of Representatives. In their post, they shared, “Great day in Nashville! Anthony and Officer VanArsdale got a standing ovation from the TN House of Representatives after the proclamation honoring them was read out to the entire body. Thank you Rep John Gillespie for always supporting officers.”

A description of Officer VanArsdale and K9 Anthony’s heroism is recorded in House Joint Resolution 992 in which they described how on the night of October 22, 2021, Officer VanArsdale and K9 Anthony responded to a request from the Bartlett Police Department just as they were about to call off the search until daylight, searched the dense woods and underbrush of Nesbitt Park, located an unconscious woman approximately 20 feet down a ravine, and administered a dose of Narcan that undoubtedly saved her life. The pair received a well-deserved standing ovation while the Tennessee House of Representatives was recognizing them.

In the resolution, the Tennessee House of Representatives stated, “it is most fitting that we pause to honor this exceptional law enforcement officer and his K9 partner at this time.” They continued, “We honor and commend Officer Christopher L. VanArsdale of the Memphis Police Department and K9 Anthony for their lifesaving actions and their laudable service to this State and extend to them our best wishes for every future success.”
