I.U.P.A. and LEORF Hero Spotlight: Dispatcher Trish Geiman

By August 15, 2022 No Comments

I.U.P.A. Local Howard County Public Safety Dispatchers Association Member Dispatcher Trish Geiman made the news recently for her efforts to locate the hospitalized son of a very worried caller who sent flowers and a note to Trish, “Grateful and blessed, I am so very grateful that you were the person on the other end of the call on July 23. Thank you for going the extra mile and beyond.”

Howard County Police Department proudly posted on their Facebook page, “On July 23, dispatcher Trish Geiman took a call from a woman in Delaware who relayed that her son, a Howard County resident, had called her after finishing a 10k race and said he was having trouble breathing. The woman was unsure of her son’s location, or what race he had finished, and she was unable to get back in contact with him.”

The post continued, “When Geiman couldn’t reach the man on his phone either, and with no more information to go on, she began researching races happening in Maryland that day. Eventually, she found a race in a neighboring county, contacted its emergency dispatch center, and learned that its paramedics had just transported the man to a local hospital.”

The post continued, “Geiman relayed all of this information to the man’s mother. The mother drove down from Delaware and reported that her son is doing well. She was incredibly appreciative of Geiman’s efforts, writing in a note she sent with flowers last week: ‘Grateful and blessed, I am so very grateful that you were the person on the other end of the call on July 23rd. Thank you for going the extra mile and beyond.’ We echo the woman’s sentiments. Incredible work going above and beyond the call of duty and a great example of the impact our dedicated dispatchers make in people’s lives every day!”
