I.U.P.A. Local Bogalusa Police Association, #85 members Detective Sergeant Justin Blackwell and CO II Leonard Powell received awards from the local American Legion and Rotary Club. Every year, awards are given to the Teacher of the Year, Police Officer of the Year, Corrections Officer of the Year, Firefighter of the Year, and Deputy of the Year. Winners are selected among those nominated by members of the community.
This year, Detective Sergeant Justin Blackwell was Police Officer of the Year and CO II Leonard Powell was Corrections Officer of the Year.
