I applaud your dedication, your service, and your commitment to the safety and security of the community of Defiance, Ohio. On behalf of the whole of the I.U.P.A., you have our thanks for your exemplary service. You are a true hero and a reminder of why officers put on their uniforms each and every day.”

The Defiance Police Department shared the below photo on social media, “On May 25, 2023, Patrolman Sanders and Patrolman Vorce responded to a residence on South Clinton Street in the City of Defiance for a disturbance call for an 18-year-old male who was suffering from a mental health crisis. During the incident, the male had used a kitchen knife to stab himself multiple times in the thigh. The stab wounds were significant, causing a large amount of blood loss. The male had to be handcuffed due to his uncooperative and dangerous behavior. A rescue squad was called. Patrolman Sanders and Patrolman Vorce took immediate action by providing lifesaving medical care for the male by utilizing a CAT-Tourniquet. The tourniquet was successfully applied preventing further blood loss.”
