I.U.P.A. Local Sarasota County School Police Association, #6046 Member School Resource Officer David Singer has been presented with a letter and certificate from the International Union of Police Associations for his quick thinking and good detective work that prevented a greater tragedy at Woodland Middle School in Sarasota County, Florida when he located an armed student and disarmed them.

On this, President Cabral stated, “I write to you today as President of the International Union of Police Associations to recognize your excellent work and heroic efforts when it was reported to you that a student was carrying a gun at school, you located the student, your search revealed that the student was in possession of a firearm, and you disarmed them, preventing a larger tragedy. You provide, once again, an example of why School Resource Officers are so necessary for the safety of the students and staff of our schools.”

He continued, “On behalf of the whole of the I.U.P.A., you have our thanks for your exemplary service. You are a true hero and a reminder of why officers put on their uniforms each and every day.”
